STATION 10

  • When they arrived at the place called The Skull, they crucified him there, along with the criminals, one on the right and one on the left. Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, because they do not know what they are doing.” And they divided his clothes and cast lots.

  • Crucifixion was an extremely cruel and painful punishment. It was so awful that most people didn’t mention it in polite society. The cross was meant to be a punishment for criminals, but it was the innocent Jesus who hung that day. Yet through the horror and injustice of Jesus’s suffering, we see a beautiful expression of love. Jesus prays for His executioners, and asks God to forgive them.

  • Jesus, your death on the cross is the ultimate expression of love. As we walk through seasons or encounter trials that cause us to question your love for us, please help us to remember your cross. Amen.

  • Sometimes when we are hurt by others we become angry. Do your best to calm down by talking to a friend, a grown-up, or through prayer with Jesus.
