STATION 2

  • While he was still speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, suddenly arrived. With him was a mob, with swords and clubs, from the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders. His betrayer had given them a signal. “The one I kiss,” he said, “he’s the one; arrest him and take him away under guard.” So when he came, immediately he went up to Jesus and said, “Rabbi!” and kissed him. They took hold of him and arrested him.

  • Jesus was not surprised by Judas’s betrayal. He had known of his faithless disciple’s schemes beforehand. Even so, in the hours leading up to this moment of betrayal, Jesus shared a meal with Judas, and washed his feet in loving service. Jesus loved His enemies, and showed compassion towards those who would later deny, slander, condemn, and crucify Him.

  • Jesus, you are so full of unfailing love. It is your love that has turned us from enemies of God to children of God. Help us to share that transforming love to others, especially to those we consider our enemies. Amen.

  • God values relationships. If you have been having problems with a friend, talk to them about it. If that doesn’t work it out, you might bring others in for support, but most importantly, pray about it. God hears your prayers!
